Notice of vote to merge Branch 4623 with Branch 908
Date of notice: August 13,2024
Date of vote: October 8,2024
Discussion at our September meeting on Tuesday September 10,2024.
Once we are all put into the new S&DC, in Bellmawr NJ, the finance number for the Office will be attached to the largest local Branch in the building. They are putting us in with Branch 908 Branch 769 and Branch 540. Every new hire after the consolidation will automatically be a member of Branch 908. None of the other smaller local unions will ever get a new member hired in that building. Currently we are the smallest Branch of the four.
If we merge now we will go into the S&DC as the largest Branch. We will control the local agreement and set the tone. We will be able to certify all stewards and not be dictated to by 540 or 769.
The choice is yours… To be a member of the largest and most powerful Branch of the NALC in South Jersey, or the smallest Branch which will ultimately and inevitably be disintegrated into non-existence through attrition.
Joseph A. Walder, Union President of Branch 4623

The Letter Carrier Political Fund is a non-partisan political action committee (PAC) established for the purpose of electing qualified candidates who support letter carriers and who are committed to maintaining a strong and innovative U.S. Postal Service. Since 1950, the NALC Health Benefit Plan (HBP) has provided letter carriers and their families with first-rate health insurance. The NALC’s health plan is a natural choice—as the only health plan owned and operated by letter carriers, it pays particular attention to their health needs. And because NALC HBP is a not-for-profit organization, its only focus is the health of its members.
As announced at the 2018 NALC Convention in Detroit, the union has established the NALC Disaster Relief Foundation to alleviate the suffering of members affected by natural disasters, including earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes and wildfires.
